He has a face that everyone loves, and a mind that everybody pities. Podcampaz.org Hey, I'm on Twitter. If you feel like it, add me to your friends list. I'm confused. Does he kill the baby at the end? I couldn't quite tell if he was suffocating her or just putting her down for a nap.
If he was putting her down for a nap, then the whole thing is a heartwarming fable about how a guy who society would consider inferior is really full of the most valuable human qualities, empathy and love.
If he was killing her, then I don't really get what the point would be, except to make a nasty story whose only goal is to disturb and disgust for the sake of disturbing and disgusting. I don't dig stories like that. It doesn't really make sense, either. Why would this Forest Gump-type character take a baby up to his apartment, bathe it, feed it, and then kill it? That doesn't make any sense. Where's the motivation? If he wanted it dead, he would have just left it in the dumpster. I don't think "because he was retarded" is a good enough explanation for that sort of counter-logical behavior.
Amory: Do more than one take in your intros and outros. The reading for the stories is alright, but there's way too much stumbling and stuttering before and after. You need to do it a few times so it sounds good.

I was wondering if anyone was having the same problem as me with the audio quality (i download via the feed to my pda). Amory, your voice is very fuzzy. I can make out what's being said when it's just your voice, but when the music is playing i'm struggling to hear what you're saying. The very end of this story is obscured because of this.
This short story is pretty interesting. It was easy to follow and decently written (it could have been better).
I'm guessing that the message of the story is that we should (or maybe we shouldn't?) respect even a small child who is bound to die, by bathing, feeding and helping them. And that even someone who is naive and ignorant of evil can see to do this.
Even if a human being is going to die soon, the least we could do is take care of them before they die. The little baby girl was going to die anyway. Tom saw this, and could have easily left her there. But instead he chose to give her some final act of kindness. Just give her a taste of how she should have lived. That's what I got out of it.
However, the only thing I don't get is why he suffocates her, when he could have easily let her die on her own. He fed her, took care of her, and then killed her? Suffocation is a painful way to go, so I don't see how it could have been a peaceful end to her life.
